		<description>Can&#039;t figure why people think a divorce court judge can dictate that a mortgage will disappear as a credit obligation. If that were the case, people would use divorce as a financial strategy. Think about it.

So many people (like friends and neighbors) were telling me that once we get divorced it would mean I didn&#039;t have to make mortgage payments any more and it would come off my credit report. I believed it too - almost. In the back of my mind, I knew it didn&#039;t make sense. I found 4 reliable sources online today that enlightened me. It&#039;s such a problem for us because neither one of us can refinance the mortgage on our salary alone. I see this article is old, but if you still read it, can you tell me if there are any other options. I live in NY if that matters.</description>
