Don’t Miss Out on the Huge Rebates & Tax Credits Available for Upgrading Your Home Appliances

The push has never been more fierce to get people to buy or switch to more efficient appliances. As an inducement, the government is offering rebates and tax credits.  Pretty decent amounts too.  Enough so that people who need appliances and can afford to buy would have no reason to delay the purchase. If your appliances are more than 8 to 10 years old, it would probably be beneficial to upgrade. You can get the rebate and save considerably on home utility costs. Look for Energy-Star rated appliances.

There are State rebate plans that vary depending on where you live. You can read details for each state here. Visit this link for New Jersey specifics.  New Jersey received more funds than the majority of states.  New Jersey’s projected start date is January 2010 for phase 1, followed by an April 2010 start date for phase 2.

Purchase of the following appliances will be eligible, but the eligible list can be longer in some states:

  • Boilers
  • Central air conditioners
  • Clothes washers
  • Dishwashers
  • Freezers
  • Furnaces (oil and gas)
  • Heat pumps (air source and geothermal)
  • Refrigerators
  • Room air conditioners
  • Water heaters

Funds for the rebate program are limited. About $300 million is available and some states got more money than others. Funds won’t last.

Take advantage while you can.  For more specific info regarding Federal incentives, check here.
